Ear & Hearing & Tinnitus Assessment
in Ottawa & Kanata

A complete clinical starting point for blocked ears, hearing changes, tinnitus, ear pressure, earwax concerns, and communication difficulties.

At Ottawa Hears Audiology, your first visit is more than a basic hearing test. Your assessment begins with a review of your symptoms, ear health, hearing history, and communication concerns. We examine your ears, assess your hearing, check middle-ear & inner-ear function and auditory pathways, and provide personalized recommendations based on your results.

This appointment helps determine whether your symptoms are related to earwax, hearing loss, middle-ear pressure, noise exposure, or another concern that may require further audiological or medical follow-up.

A sudden change in hearing, new ear pressure, ringing, buzzing, or a sudden worsening of tinnitus should not be ignored — especially if it happens in one ear. With sudden hearing loss or a sudden change in tinnitus, time matters. The sooner you are assessed and referred for medical treatment when needed, the better the chances of recovery may be.

Ottawa Hears Audiology offers an Urgent Same-Day Sudden Hearing Loss Assessment by request, based on clinical urgency and availability. This appointment includes urgent audiological testing and a same-day report for your physician, walk-in clinic, emergency department, or ENT specialist when clinically required. If sudden sensorineural hearing loss is suspected, you may be advised to seek urgent medical care the same day.Ideally, book an urgent assessment within 72 hours of symptom onset so we can complete testing, provide documentation when required, and guide you toward appropriate medical care.

To request an urgent same-day appointment, please email info@ottawahears.com with your name, date of birth, phone number, reason for your visit, preferred time & day, and when your symptoms started.
An urgent service fee will apply.

Urgent Same-Day Sudden Hearing Loss Assessment & Same-Day Report

Tinnitus Assessment & Management

Tinnitus is often connected to hearing changes, earwax, middle-ear concerns, noise exposure, stress, or other medical factors. For this reason, all tinnitus appointments begin with an Ear & Hearing Assessment to evaluate your ear health, hearing levels, and middle-ear function.

When tinnitus is present, a Tinnitus Assessment & Management component may be added to your visit. This includes a tinnitus-focused review, counselling, education, management strategies, and personalized recommendations based on your results.

Audiological Report & Medical Recommendations

When clinically warranted, our audiologist may provide a detailed audiological report for your physician, including findings and recommendations for next steps. This may include a recommendation for a referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat physician, neurologist, speech-language pathologist, psychologist, occupational therapist, educator, or another appropriate medical or healthcare provider.

If the audiological findings suggest that further medical investigation may be needed, we may recommend that you discuss diagnostic imaging, such as MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, or other testing, with your physician or your registered nurse.
